Permatex Electrical Contact and Parts Cleaner is a fast-evaporating cleaner that leaves no residue. The product is suited for cleaning electrical and electronic devices. It is designed to be an alternative to CFC-113, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and perchloroethylene solvents. VOC compliant in all 50 states.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

Permatex Electrical Contact & Parts Cleaner is used as an electrical contact and parts cleaner to remove grease, dirt, oil, flux and other surface contaminants from sensitive electrical/electronic devices. Permatex Electrical Contact & Parts Cleaner can also be used to clean motorized instruments, control panels, electrically driven parts, motors, and other electronic devices requiring a fast acting, low residue degreasing agents.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

(Read all directions before using this product)

1. DO NOT apply to energized equipment or where there is a residual electrical potential from a component such as a capacitor.
2. Hold can 6 to 8 inches from surface to be cleaned.
3. Spray surface to be cleaned using 15 second bursts.
4. The extension tube may be used for pinpoint application or hard-to-reach areas.
5. For stubborn residues, repeat application.
6. For difficult applications, swabs or lint free cloths may be used.
7. Allow to dry completely before re-energizing system.
   SPECIAL USAGE WARNINGS: Contents EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. DO NOT smoke while using this product. Extinguish all flames, pilot lights and heaters. DO NOT apply while equipment is energized. Vapors will accumulate quickly and may ignite. Use only with adequate ventilation; maintain ventilation during use and until vapors are gone. ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD: The aerosol can will conduct electricity. Keep away from all live electrical sources including battery terminals, solenoids, electrical panels, electronic components or where there is a residual electrical potential from a a component such as a capacitor. DO NOTuse while the ignition is in the “on” position. Failure to observe these warnings may result in serious injury from flash fire and/or electrical shock.

For Cleanup

1. Clean hands with Permatex brand hand cleaners.

COMPATIBILITY

Permatex Electrical Contact & Parts Cleaner is compatible with most metals, many plastics and elastomers. The following table shows the effects of the product sprayed onto plastic and elastomer samples for a burst of 15 seconds to duplicate actual in-use applications. The samples were then allowed to dry for 30 minutes and their appearance was observed. Since plastics and elastomers can be formulated and manufactured to have a wide range of physical properties, it is recommended that compatibility for a particular grade or product formulation be established prior to cleaning. The following table shows the effects of the product on various plastics and elastomers.

INCOMPATIBILITIES

Permatex Electrical Contact & Parts Cleaner may be incompatible with some powdered or finely divided/abraded aluminum. It is recommended that the compatibility be established prior to cleaning.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen
and/or oxygen rich systems and should not be selected as
a sealant for chlorine or other strong oxidizing materials.

STORAGE

Products shall be ideally stored in a cool, dry location in unopened containers at a temperature between 8 and 28C (46 and 82F) unless otherwise labeled. Optimal storage is at the lower half of this temperature range.
